I use three computers on a regular basis when I am working. Each have Windows 8 Pro and Deskscapes 8 installed. Deskscapes 8 runs great at first when I change the wallpaper to an animated "dream" wallpaper. But when another PC is booted up and Windows 8 tries to sync the wallpaper, it causes the Deskscapes 8 animation to stop. It doesn't resume at all unless I reset a new wallpaper through Dreamscapes 8, which leads to the same thing again, because Windows 8 syncs the themes across computers...

I've bought Start8 and Decor8 for Windows 8 Pro so I thought I'd download and install Stardock Central v2.8.5 to ensure that I always have the latest updates without having to check for them manually.

Sadly, I get an error message when I start the program:

Sorry, unable to setup automatic update checks. Please try again. If it fails again, you may run Stardock Central manually to retreive updates until this issue is resolved.

Hi,

i'm new in this community and downloaded Deskscapes8 and I really like 3D features. But I have 4 small suggestions.

- put that you can choose by package like the original background (Australia scenery package (example))

- Be able to choose multiple wallpapers.

- Be able to change desktop colors. 

- when the movie the hobbit will be out, it could be nice to have moving wallpaper of the chimney at the beginning of the movie.

So I have a 20KW solar array. Love it.  But it has one big problem for me that is surprisingly hard/expensive to solve: If the grid power goes off, so does the solar array.

That’s because the solar array feeds into the grid with me taking what I need first.  But if the grid isn’t up, the solar array has to shut down because it is no longer connected to the “circuit”.  Besides that, you wouldn’t want to run your house where the power could go on and off randomly based on cloud...

When I try to upload a swf file for video preview the edit section stays on "please wait" after the upload and I can`t klick un submit! I tried swf files between 300 and 900KB all with the same result! Everything else works fine with the edit section! Can someone of you experts help me!

I don't own ObjectDock but I do use Dell dock on a couple of my Dells. What I was wondering is if ObjectDock can make a Dell Dock lookalike where you can put separators in and have folders in it that have drop down menus. It looks like the tabbed OD would do that but I don't want to display tabbs. I just want to be able to mouse over an object and have it show there are other things in that particular tab.

I was having problems with a lot of the Dreams until I downloaded and installed K-Lite codecs which replaced the default MPEG2 codec.  Since then, MOST of the dreams are working flawlessly, but I'm still having issues with some of them.  Specifically, Ocean Clouds and UFO run in a window-mode that I can move around the desktop.  If I try to maximize it, the screen freezes.  Also, nothing happens if I try to change the setting in Display Properties to, say, Stretch, Crop, or M...

I dunno.....Win 8 to some is the best one yet and to others its meh. It'll be interesting to see if this one will be a service pack or.....maybe it will make Win 8 more user friendly. Time will tell.

Over the last couple of weeks we have had some negative drama on WinCustomize.  The weather widget alone has caused a ton of frustration alone, so I wanted to do something to bring some positive vibes to WC, and to show that we are a community.

Since the economy is in a bad situation, I know we have many members on WC who have been hit with very hard times.  Trying to help someone who has lost a job for instance can be difficult, but I do know things like hobbies and friends...

Now that I decided to change the look of my desktop and after a long time of using the same skin, I found that with many of the new skins I am having a problem with the right click in Total Commander.

To ilustrate my problem, here are these screenshots, first with one that works with no problems.

With Skin : Pressurized by Xiandi

First here is the regular Total Commander :

MS has done it again. They must have a Division of Dumbassed Moves.

Their latest winner? You buy a license to MS Office 2013. Now it’s tied to that computer and that’s it. Anything happens to that computer, or you decide to upgrade to another system, you’d better keep the old one because the license cannot be transferred to the new one.

Hey guys. I'm posting this in hopes that someone out there has had my problem and has the answer.

 

I seem to have lost half my write speed on an OCZ Agility 4 SSD.

 

256 GB Sata III on a Sata III Mobo.

 

Trim enabled.  ACHI mode.

EDIT: Windows 7 64 bit.  16 GB ram.
