And Another Reason Why Apple IS Despicable

I really wanted to take a shot at Google today but couldn't find anything newsworthy or damning.

However, I found the next best thing...  a damning indictment on Apple... something it oughta be fechin' ashamed of but instead is defending.

Yup, the mother-whats-its [insert expletive here] created software to delete competitors music purchased by users from their iPods and other fechen i devices.

Despicable ain't the word for it!  Try downright fechen criminal.....

When I start windows 8 and go to my desktop, I only see the taskbar and the background picture.

After a right click with the mouse, the fences appear.

How to configure fences to show fences right away?

I’m happy to finally announce our newest and last Master Skinner promotion for 2014 goes to neone6!  Neone6 has been a member since 2010, and during that time has shown a real dedication to skinning especially in the WindowBlinds area, but has a wide variety of skins in the galleries.  Andrew brings a unique style to WinCustomize, and has been recommended for promotion by several members of the community, other Master skinners, and fully agreed upon by the staff here at WC.

So the circumstances of this strange bug are, I was launching the 64bit version of Kerbal Space Program while at the same time trying to move a shortcut for the 64bit KSP launcher into a fence. The shortcut intially refused to move, but eventually I got it in there, but now when ever my mouse cursor hovers over the portion of the desktop where the shortcut originally was at the Create Fence Here context menu pops up. even if I have a game or web browser open.

An example of what is happening. ...

Fences still appear, but can no longer be moved.  Reinstalling appears to have no effect.  What gives?

Thanks.

Are there any plans for new features/bug fixes in object desktop coming up?

OD Is a great suite and it's nice to pay for tools from a good company, but Iconpackager has been stagnating and has a lot of bugs, and even window blinds, the once undisputed crown jewel seems to languish. It would be great if it could load visual styles as well as blinds, and if it would work with firefox on windows 8.

Didn't brad used to give a state of stardock post once a year?

And Says: "My wife and I don't enjoy sex anymore."

The doctor's jaw drops open and he asks: "How old are you, sir?"

"I'm 89.", he replies.

"And how old is your wife?"

"She's 88."

"And when did you first notice this?"

"Twice last night and once this morning."

A 90 year old goes to the doctor and says: "My wife thinks I'm losing my faculties and said I should come see you."

"And when did she say that?"

"Right after I asked her for a quickie."

Yup, it's that time of year again, but this time it's not a PC upgrade but rather a complete new build... starting with a real sexy case...

Now this is a full tower and has oodles of room inside for lots of fantastic shit... accommodating extra big graphics cards, enormous CPU coolers and even a magical leprechaun who can fix stuff when it's broken.  Orright, maybe not the leprechaun, but it is fechin' huge inside.  And what's m...

Happy Hanukkah! I do this every year, though not sure why...

This year? Some personalized menorahs. couldn't do one for absolutely everyone (6 million plus 'shops'!) please don't feel slighted if you didn't get oneBy the way, all the word means is "a light" (of any sort).

So light to all...and joy to all.

Hanukkah is about a miracle and rededication...also light in the midst of a dreary and cold season.

So, to my 'chosen', your special card...

Drag-drop folder on desktop with right mouse button

On Windows, when dropping something with right mouse button, a context menu is shown asking you what you want to do with the drop operation

So, I'd expect to be able to drop a folder on the desktop with right mouse button pressed (instead of left) and at the context menu shown to see option to make folder portal (guess that is set up in the registry [can use RegMon tool from Sysinternals/Microsoft to see what the shell queries in the registry when building that menu at drop]). Now can onl...

DesktopX 3: Creating a widget

Creating widgets with DesktopX 3 is, relatively speaking, a snap. Today I'm going to walk you through how to create a widget. It's actually going to be a pretty complicated one (for me anyway) but it will hopefully show you the ropes on how to create fully featured widget.

The widget I want to create is one I've been looking for for a long while - A disk space meter that lets the user configure which drive they are monitoring.

Step 1: Load up the DesktopX development environment.

We talk about movies and TV, so why not have a discussion about the books we read!  Let us know what's the last book you read, and feel free to recommend it or expand on what it's about.

I mostly read through my Kindle and get most of my eBooks through Amazon.

The book I recently finished was Inside the Real Area 51: The Secret History of Wright Patterson.

What Movie Did You Last See?

What's the last movie you saw?  Doesn't matter if it was at home or at a theater.

Last one I saw was Captain Philips.  I thought it a pretty good movie, especially since it was based on real events.
