Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Went and saw this last night - thought it was really well done. Did a great job of setting up Captain America as a leader for the Avengers. Managed to pull on some heart strings, too. Not to mention there were some awesome previews beforehand: Spiderman 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, Maleficent, XMen: Days of Future Past, etc. It's gonna be a great summer of movies.

Anybody else seen it? What'd you think?

Life after Windows 7

As some of you will know, I am not without a certain knowledge of customising. I am now wondering if it is worth continuing to do so if the Windows 8 set up remains similar to it's present state, that is with irregular rectangles covering the whole desktop.

I can see there may be some use if you are using a touch screen, although with a computer, I fail to see how this is of any use whatsoever.

Also, the apps for Windows 8 are the worst I have seen! Windows 8 is Apple's best advert...

Over 12 years after it has launched, Microsoft is finally cutting lose the operating system so many of us have a history with……Windows XP.  Starting today Microsoft will no longer offer any type of support, security patches, updates, fixes, etc. for Windows XP.  Now this doesn’t mean XP is going to stop working if you are using it, but going forward you are now running the risk of a vulnerable OS,and in all honesty it’s time to upgrade.

If you still want to use XP, there’s still o...

Windowblinds causing taskbar to lock up in Windows 8.1

So I've had this problem for months now, been back and forth with Stardock technical support and nothing they suggest seems to fix it. I've used Windowblinds for years and apart from one issue with UAC a few years ago I've never had any big problems with it. But at the end of my tether I've disabled it this morning as I simply cannot fix this issue.

Basically what happens is my taskbar keeps locking up. By locking up I mean I click the icons and nothing happens, I can't pe...

Heartbleed bug in encryption software creates data leak across large parts of the net.

Really. This is a huge problem. There’s a bug in the security encryption software used by large segments of the internet (possibly millions of websites) to encrypt and secure private data from being transmitted to the internet which causes data leaks (passwords, user names, banking info, etc.) when the server communicates with a computer attempting to communicate with that server. Worse: The data can be stolen without leaving a trace, and impersonations would go undetected. Heartblee...

"Windows XP mode is restricted to Professional versions of Windows 7. Microsoft doesn’t officially support it on Windows 8, but there’s a way to get Windows XP Mode running on Microsoft’s latest operating system anyway. You won’t need a Windows XP disc or license key — just a computer running Windows 8."

For those who are unhappy, I found an article which explains the "how to":

Google Chrome ugly font change?

Hello, I just downloaded WB 8.03 last night to try on my nice new Windows 8.1 and everything has been working fairly OK except that it changed the font in Chrome to something VERY ugly, and no matter what I do I can't seem to get the original font back. The font in IE11 is just beautiful, but the new font change in Chrome is puke ugly. The menus are affected, the bookmarks bar is affected, the title bar, everything except for web pages.

How can I get back either the original font or...

This video (http://youtu.be/jz55QSOaFbI) from MS should explain the updates. There are “Critical” updates.

Executive Summary

Four bulletins are released by Microsoft this month that address 11 vulnerabilities across all products. The products affected by these vulnerabilities are Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office. Two bulletins are rated critical, the other two important. Top deployment priority are the two critical bullet...

I'm not having much luck searching online for an answer. I want to burn a CD of media files for someone, but their only computer is a Mac. I don't think they know what the OS is, they're not very computer versed. The Mac is about 8 years old and I'm using a PC with Windows 7. Any help?

Office 365 does not work

Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit. We recently installed 32bit Office 365.

We can't get any of the Office 365 programs to launch from ObjectDock. We have even tried creating a junction to the "Program Files" directory to avoid the "Program Files (x86)" issue that ObjectDock has suffered from forever.

How can we put our new Office apps onto our ObjectDock?

OD is for me deadware

I switched over to RocketDock with the stack addon and I think I'll never look back to OD unless Stardock finally wants to move their arses and release a better verison for W8.....right now is simply slow and buggy. My tabbed dock is big, it has shortcuts for almost everything in my system, OD delays windows start, sometimes the reserve edge doesn't work, sfter closing the task manager OD freezes for 10 seconds, I've had enough.

Also reported my problems multiple times systematica...

Will ObjectDock be continued or not ?

Hi,

as a long time customer and subscriber I PLEASE want an honest answer if ObjectDock is still in development or not and if it EVER will work right on 64-bit systems (shortcuts always pointing to c:\program files (x86)) problem. I am really sadly tired of the update politics and public relations on this matter at Stardock at the moment (again). Seen too many good SD-programs going down the drain I relied on (aka DesktopX / RightClick...).

A general update-plan would be great and also a n...
