Possible Conflict with Windows 8.1

Hello all,

I've been using my HP Omni desktop with Windows 8 and Object Desktop for the better part of a year with no problem until now.

Two days ago, Windows forced me to install the recent 8.1 update and it rebooted my pc.  Since then, while I am working on the desktop, which is all the time, the silly Store App keeps randomly opening in full screen and I have to keep on closing it.  I've read through a lot of Windows 8.1 update issues, but I haven't seen anyone pos...

Will there be an Object Desktop 2014

Yes I know that Object Desktop is not in itself a single piece of software but I was just wondering since a thread was started about WinCustomize 2014 that Stardock might be doing the same for it.

It would be interesting to read what may be in the works as which software will continued to be supported and if any additional 'Toys' will become available for desktop customization.

People will hit me, but.....

As much as many of us like the existing WinCustomize design, technology marches on and there's a lot more we can do with WinCustomize today than we could when we did the last design.

I'm starting this thread to begin the brain storming phase of what you guys would like to see in the next-generation version of WinCustomize.com.

This can include:

1. HOW items (like skins) are organized.

2. WHAT kinds of items we include (should we add support for mobile devices for instance)

On Neowin, Brad Sams has notified on some ugly news:

“Over two million passwords for Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others have been posted to the web after a botnet has infected thousands of machines and used a keylogger to obtain passwords. While this breach is not from any particular service, the botnet has clearly been running effectively for some time as it reportedly has over 2 million passwords, 300,000 of which are for Facebook accounts.”

So, if you sus...

I’ll Take My Amazon Drone Delivery Now Please

If you follow tech news you probably have seen the 60 Minutes interview with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.  He revealed that Amazon has been working on package delivery by drones and hope to have it operational in the next few years.

Link: Amazon

The goal is to have items delivered within 30 minutes, but obviously there are a lot of obstacles (no pun intended) to get this going in the real world.  I’m a bit mixed on this technology, and I personally don’t see it taking off (a...

Gamasutra talks to Brad Wardell about the Stardock Staffing Company, and the idea behind it.  It’s a fantastic read on how Stardock is trying to change the practices of game project staffing, and making it better for everyone.

"Dubbed the Stardock Staffing Company (SSC), the new unit, comprising a small network of studios that Stardock has invested in, is essentially a professional employer organization, or PEO, for game developers."

WindowBlinds is 15 years old today!  It’s almost crazy to think it’s been around that long, but many of our WinCustomize members have been there from the start and continue to use WindowBlinds to make their desktop shine.  To help celebrate 15 years and over 19 million downloads on Download.com alone, we wanted to have a little contest where you can win a year of Object Desktop.  Object Desktop not only includes WindowBlinds, but many other customization and desktop en...

I'm having too many bugs issue that I had to removes WindowBlinds 8.1 (Window OS 8.1 on Dell Inspiron i7 and 17" screen)

(1) Strange behaviour in PDF Exchange, where it muddle up the tab and forms within the PDF Exchange,

(2) Flicking on address box within toolbar.

I do not think it ready for Window 8.1, too many bugs.

I wait for 6 month and then try again.

WindowBlinds 1.0 was released in November 1998! Since then, it’s gotten over 100 MILLION downloads!  Over on CNET’s Download.com version 8 has received over 18 million downloads.

It was the first program to enable users to customize the look and feel of the Windows GUI.  15 years later it is still going strong. Let’s take a look at its evolution in pictures.

Version 1 Changed window frames, menu bars.   Yea, this was the config UI we had.....

Terry named this 'Sabrina' .... bit of a play on words, I expect.

2007 SAAB 9-3 Aero Cabriolet.

Price was too good to refuse, being 70k AUD off the '07 listed price.

Quaintly...although SAAB is Swedish....this one's German...and the Engine was made in Port Melbourne [Australia] just a 'couple of miles down the road' from me.

Fitted with a Hirsch performance chip the 2.8l V6 Turbo Intercooled produces 202kw [276 hp] at 5670 rpm - or 90% of the 400 nm of tor...

What's Your Favorite Holiday Song?

I love the Christmas holiday season.  I have quite a collection of Christmas music I listen to during December, but I have a hard time saying which one is my absolute favorite.

I guess if I had to pick one it would be Frosty the Snowman.  I don't know now, I have too many I like.

If you listen to holiday music, do you have a favorite?

I've tried both the bubble effect and the zoom effect (don't like the glowing icon in the zoom effect).  Is there some way to get the selected dock icon to bounce when clicked in either of the above to effects?  Thank you for your assistance.

Hi I'm trying to buy WindowBlinds 8 licence. Problem is it count the currency as "pesos" instead "dollars", and the only way I can pay is through paypal in which one I have only dollars to spent.

I been thinking of change my country to USA to try if it let me pay on dollars since you don't need to send me nothing to my actual address (which wiil be correct except the country), but maybe this make me some trouble with you, so, I'm here asking for your advice how to continue with th...

CursorFX for Win8 workaround

I've been a long time Cxp/Cfx user, and have just upgraded to Windows 8. I realize that Cfx isn't compatible with Win8 yet, but since I've become so attached to my customized cursors on WinXP, I was wondering if there is any way to export them into .ani format so that I can continue to use them until a Win8 version of Cfx is released. I wouldn't bother asking, since a developer should be able to rebuild from his own working files, but since I created my cursors (with GI...
