I recently upgraded to the Fences 3.03 version on my PC running Windows10.  I did this to resolve the issue with Fences 2.x where it would not allow placement of new icons inside the fences.

However, I have noticed a new bug that was not present in Fences 2.x.

I have two monitors (DVI & VGA) and have Windows10 configured to display wallpaper backgrounds and these backgrounds change every 20 minutes.  With Win7 both monitors would show the same background, but after installing...

Hello,

After using fences for a few weeks on Windows 10, I have collected my thoughts:

- folder portals do not inherit the "view" settings from the root.  Each browsed folder from that point on goes back to a default large icon view.  My system default is "details."

- Would be nice for rollups pinned to the corners of the screen to be able to stay on top of everything.

- would be nice for a rollup to roll in from the sides.

- trying to select icons within a fence using c...

Is there a difference in performance? Dual channel vrs Quad channel?

In my ongoing research the newer mother boards for Broadwell are DDR4 (quad channel) while Skylake is dual channel. Is there any advantage of one over the other?

 

I understand they have to be purchased or installed in pairs...Quad channel ram of 16gig would be 4 sticks of 4 gig while dual channel would be 2 sticks of 8. 

 

I also have my eye on these coming up late next year...

Explorer crash or reload when I hit WIN+D closing all open explorer instances, if fences (2 or 3) is not running show desktop command works normally.

I'm considering purchasing the Winstep Software as I really like what I have been seeing of all the ways of customizing my desktop. I really have to be honest here....I really do enjoy using Windowblinds, but the truth is, I only use it because I don't like the plain white Explorer Background.

I'm considering a change of pace with Winstep , but I was wondering if it has an option to change Explorer Background colors?  If it doesn't , I would definitely recommend that that...

Any chance to get a "DesktopX 10" in the near future?

Hi guys! I want to keep creating scenarios for Desktopx but since I upgrade to WIndows 10 I leave the project. Some week ago many people write me asking for Scenarios for Windows 10. My question is... there is any software alternative to reach the same or similar funtions like to create objects (clickable) on the desktop?  By the moment the best option is WINSTEP XTREME 16.12. 

Is this the best or there is any posibility that Stardock release a DesktopX 10 anytime?

Heya. As of just a couple days ago, a specific fence portal's icons rearranged themselves in order of name rather than date modified as I had them before. Right clicking on the title and trying to "Sort by" yields no results. Other fence portals let me rearrange their icons. If I try to create a new fence portal of the problem folder it still doesn't let me. Reinstalled but it didn't look like it really did a full uninstall since my layouts etc were still here.

What would you reco...

Hi, I just got some new monitors and now I have one off to the side in portrait mode.  I can't seem to find a way to rotate the dream so that I can fill the entire monitor without blowing out the image.  

I know the image would be sideways, but I've been looking for some more abstract ones that aren't oriented in any specific way.  

Any advice appreciated!

sViz, on this day, just like every other year, is having her birthday.

For those that don't know her, she is a Master here at WinCustomize, mainly due to her work on DesktopX, a program that is no longer supported. She has also contributed to the forums here, writing a series of interviews with other DesktopX skinners, and helping others make use of DX as well as writing some of the scripts that enabled other artists to use DX.

Hi all,

So we did an initial evaluation of Fences, which was a success. Now we are doing a trial with a couple of users and have bought licenses.

During our evaluation, we noticed that Fences added about three minutes to shutdown times on at least one machine. Uninstalling Fences yields shutdown times under a minute. Reinstalling Fences gets us back up to around five minutes.

We also noticed that Fences refused to upgrade. It gets to the downloading screen, but sits at 0% forever. Durin...

I'm using the skin Naked Noir on Win8.1 with OldNewExplorer and when I have a dark wallpaper I can't see the letters in the details pane. What I would like to do is change the color to a transparent blue like in the bottom picture which is Aero Midnight and I would like to know where in SKS10 I can find that setting.

I have used Fences for quite some time now, having started with the free version, then upgrading to the paid versions for Windows 10, and I think it's a terrific product.  However, there is an annoying bug.  In v2, when Windows started, the Fences would often not be transparent, but became so on mouse-over.  I now have v3 and love the new roll-up feature, but again, when Windows starts, they're not rolled-up (nor transparent).  What to do to fix this please?

So I like the new navigation feature in Fences 3. However, I have two suggestions:

1) When navigating to a subfolder, can you make it use whatever the view is for that fence? For instance, if the folder is set to "List", then can you make the subfolder also show as "List"? Currently it seems to always default to "Large Icon", and I have to set it for each subfolder.

2) Can there be a keyboard shortcut to navigate back up to the main folder if clicked inside a fence which is in a subfolder?...
