My Microsoft Surface is a constant companion.  It is absolutely central to my workflow.

One of the challenges I’ve had with it is battery life.  There’s a lot of things you can do to help with your battery life but one simple thing I’ve done, for now, is to set the max CPU when on battery to 99%. 

Setting the max CPU to 99% prevents the CPU from going into Turbo mode.  For me, this accomplishes two things:

(1) I get roughly an extra hour of battery ...

I had been using Fences Pro on my HP laptop. I think it came pre-installed. I upgraded to Windows 10, and now I can't move any of the icons. I read somewhere that I needed the newer version of Fences. I bought it and tried to install it, but it tells me that I have to uninstall the current version. The problem is that I can't uninstall Fences Pro. I got a message that some file or link was missing. I tried to replicate the error in order to document it here, but when I select "uninstall"...

What started out as a storm bringing us 8 to 12 inches of snow turned out to be a whopper! Latest reports indicate 23 to 30 inches of snow with more coming. It looks like MS has put together another patchwork UI full of inconsistencies. They just can seem to follow their OWN rules when "designing" an OS UI!

 

Here are a couple of thing I have discovered in the short period I have had access to WB 10 and Sks 10.

 

1. Right click menus (desktop and taskbar) are now using the skin defined system colors to skin the background rather than the graphic image.

Controls are as follows:

Background = menu

Boarder = button shadow ...

Hi All,

For those of you who do not know me, I'm a developer here at Stardock.  Actually one of the original developers of WinCustomize.com.  

As you have seen, WinCustomize has not had many updates recently.  So, I'm looking to try and clean things up a little bit here. Starting out by fixing a few things.  So, I'm asking you, what issues on WinCustomize have really been bugging you that you would like to have fixed?

Is there any way to use DesktopX objects & widgets with Object Desktop or any other currently-available Stardock software? There are some that I would REALLY love to be able to use.

I've run into a rather inconvenient issue with ObjectDock and how it interacts with XYplorer, a popular Windows Explorer replacement, and I've noticed that its windows are only noticed by ObjectDock for a few seconds before the program registers XYplorer as not running.  This results in a new instance being started every time I click the icon in the dock, instead of switching to the already-running instance.

I'm using ObjectDock version 2.20.0.862, and XYPlorer is version 16....

My fave series ever...very good acting. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are back...at least for 6 episodes...better than nothing!

Dana looks great, Fox...a tad worn.

Part one...review of the past, with new footage and new stuff...no spoilers from me. Skinner's game should prove interesting.

Shocker: Guess who's back at the end of the first part of episode one?

Mulder now thinks it's all a hoax...but that there's a plot afoot.

New Windows 10 install with latest updates.  Starting/restarting computer is fine.  Waking from sleep results in a black desktop, requiring reconfiguring Deskscapes 8.5.

I have uninstalled, rebooted, installed, rebooted and tried both the KLite and Shark codec packs. Deskscapes works perfectly in every case except when waking from sleep.  Can anyone offer advice?   Thanks in advance!

I've come back to using WB after reinstalling W8.1 on all of my PC's. I want to use the same skin (Polaris) on all of them, but I have an issue with the size of the font used when viewing the contents of a Windows folder (all my folders are set up to view Details). I've played around with increasing the font using the tool within WB, but that only seems to change the size of the font used for menus, titles, etc. Any suggestions on increasing it for folder content?

Is it possible for Deskscape to start up when I log into my session? Even when my machine comes back from being locked I am presented with a black screen and have to reapply the settings. Is this by design? I am on Windows 10 Pro
