China getting its own W10? “Depersonalized data collection"?
MS is having problems in China, so it decided to “modify” W10 for the Chinese government.
There are no specifics, but what do you bet one of the changes will be related to “Privacy Settings”? Folks all over the world have expressed concerns over what and how ‘depersonalized data’ is being collected…but the Chinese government more so…wonder why?

Desktop Pages Enabled cause HDD activity
This happened on Windows 7 and 10(current). Fences V2.13
Desktop Pages while enabled will cause heavy write activity on HDD and probably SSDs(I don't have one). Confirmed by HDD activity light and Task Manager.
A previous post in 2012 mentioned this problem and suggests disabling Desktop Pages.![]()

confirm this bug. hard drive usage when fences enabled
in windows 8 task manager will show harddrive usage increase when moving mouse around desktop screen. climbs to 80% and drops as soon as mouse stops.
it only happens on the desktop. not over windows
disable fences and move mouse around desktop screen and problem doesn't show.
enable fences again and move mouse around desktop screen and disk usage appears.

Shadows always Blink W10 Wfx v6
With custom open and close animations no matter which, the shadows always blink when opening new windows that are not maximized.
As well with system shadows or using ShadowFX so it has nothing to do with the latter.
GPU is NVIDIA GTX760, CPU 3.4 Quad, Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit.
While it's somewhat minor it's also major as it creates a huge eye sore every time a window is opened or closed, that's not maximized. Dialogue windows, etc. Sometimes it doesn't...![]()

Java deletion - 3 years later
So, it's been almost 3 years to the day since I started the thread that I was deleting Java from all my computers. I have just *finally* run into something that requires Java to run. The soundsense plugin for Dwarf Fortress requires you to have Java running

WiFi..........Changes
I just upgraded my home NetGear setup to ac to take advantage of increasing bandwidth and more devices at home...........that alone gave me download speeds in the 140's - nearly triple of what I had before and.........better streaming on all devices. Objectdock 2.20; Windows 10. False running program with empty icon. (ApplicationFrameHost.exe)
Somethimes an emply icon appears for a 'running program'. This is the path to said program: C:\Windows\system32\ApplicationFrameHost.exe
I never opened this program so it must be objectdock picking up a program running in the backgroud as a false foreground program opened by the user.![]()

i read the explanations back in August saying no real work could be done
until Windows 10 came out with a stable version
then also in August another post
admitting Windows 10 had come out with a stable version and NOW Stardock would
finally get to seriously working on an update for WindowBlinds to make it compatible.
September came and went, and then so did October.

Object Desktop subscribtion renewed but is not posting to Object Desktop Manager
I renewed my yearly subscription to Object Desktop but the date did not post to Object Desktop Manager.
Now Object Desktop Manager is reporting that my subscription has expired.

Icon arrangement retore
Hello -
I'm running Windows 7 and Fences 2.0.
I know how to restore snapshots of the fences layout, but all that is restored is the fences layout itself, not the icon arrangement - leaving me with my fences and a pile of icons outside of my fences on my Desktop.
Does anyone know how to restore so that the icons are grouped back into the proper fence?

Windows 8.1 with all latest updates
WindowBlinds version 8.12
I just upgraded Mozilla Thunderbird to version 38.1.0.
The titlebar is now disappearing unless I run my mouse pointer over the top right close, minimize, restore buttons or I task switch to another window and then back to Thunderbird. If I run the mouse over top the top right window control buttons, Thunderbird's menus disappear as well as ...![]()

I work for a software company in Chicago as a UX Director. I was wondering how game development processes handles User Experience? Do you staff UX professionals? Is it typical to have discussions around what the best gaming experience would be? Just curious how the the game development industry is different than traditional UX in software.
