A big annoyance for me with Windows 8 is that it takes multiple steps to simply shutdown or restart.  In Metro you have to sign out, then slide the lock screen, and then finally have the shutdown button.  That’s quite a few steps just to shut off your PC!

Start8 brings the start button back to Windows 8, and in doing so it also simplifies the shutdown process.

The lack of a start button and start menu in Windows 8 has made using Microsoft’s new OS a non-starter for me and a lot of other people. 

I like Metro, I really do – for tablets. But as a desktop user, I need a consistent work flow that lets me have my windows together on my desktop and don’t want to be jerked out of that environment every time I want to start some new program.

So far, the only issue I have is that Outlook 2010 and Firefox will not remain resized.  They seem to have a mind of their own.  Otherwise, WB 10 is working well.

Update:  I did a full shutdown and Firefox opened to the correct size.  Outlook 2010 seems to have a mind of its own but not a major issue.

Hi,

I have a shortcut in a folder, it is to "c:\program files\blah", its properties are correct and work perfectly from Explorer.

I set up a Dock Menu (Show folder in a menu), when run from the menu it tries to run it from "c:\program files (x86)\blah" and fails. The dialog is created by ObjectDock (it doesn't ask Windows to invoke it).

 

This is on Windows 10 and teh latest Object Doco 2.20.0.862

Overall, the SD programs hog 81% of my CPU.  It goes from 99% to 18% after I unload all SD programs.

 

What works:

CursorFX works well.

WindowBlinds 10 seems to skin everything correctly, including Chrome.  Too bad Modern apps can't be skinned.  Ugly!

Start10 works great but missing the Run... command entry.  In combination with OD or ND you cannot pass in the Ctrl key to invoke the standard W10 menu if wanted.

ObjectDock Plus 2.xx works but very sl...

Hi All,

For those of you who do not know me, I'm a developer here at Stardock.  Actually one of the original developers of WinCustomize.com.  

As you have seen, WinCustomize has not had many updates recently.  So, I'm looking to try and clean things up a little bit here. Starting out by fixing a few things.  So, I'm asking you, what issues on WinCustomize have really been bugging you that you would like to have fixed?

Hello, I just got a new PC with windows 10 and installed fences 2.13. 

Everything was going ok, I reated my fences, hide them with double click, let some of the fences always visible, etc... when sudently, my desktop wallpaper changed and all fences disappeared. I cannot for the life of me get them back without disabling fences (when I do, all the icons show up again). 

I was hoping fences created a second desktop but I think it did not, In any case if it did I cannot "click and ...

I have a docklet that I put together using ObjectDock, and I configured the settings so it will load when I first boot my computer, but it does not load automatically. I was hoping someone could help me to figure out why.

Fences is in the Win 10 startup, but I have to run the Configure Fences (right click desktop) app for it to appear.

hi.  new to this.  running win 10 and finally have IT stabilized enuf.  a feat in itself.  anyway, what i have noticed is that if i have inactive windows semi transparent, i can mouse over an inactive firefox and scroll with my wheel and firefox stays semi-transparent.  should it not remove the transparency since i am scrolling on it?  if i click it anywhere, it comes back but that's an extra click, times a few hundred times a day.  something that can easil...

I don't know why for some reason my users have been experiencing the problem when they send PDF files from Outlook 2003 to outside people the file is not delivered, incomplete or corrupted...

 

I have deleted temporary files from OKL folder. But no luck...

 

Any idea what else I need to do?

I have used Fences for several years and liked it very much but the truth is it just doesn't work with Win10. It really messes up my desktop. I don't see why Stardock doesn't just admit it isn't ready for Win10 and does not encourage people to download it.

I have no idea what's causing this.  I uninstalled Start10 in case it was the culprit.  If I boot with no SD programs running I get a clean start menu.  I have not yet tried disabling one at a time and rebooting.  Was hoping someone else had seen this and knows which program is causing it and a workaround.  As you can see, when I display the default start menu, all applications, there are alphabet letters overlaid over the menu.  Turning off all SD programs afte...

With the update to version 2.13, the fences on my second monitor move to my first monitor on reboot.  Works ok when the system sleeps. I think it worked ok on the previous version, but I am not 100% sure.

Windows 10 Home, HPE-590t, Intel i7 CPU, no touch screen.
