I downloaded and installed the latest version of WindowFX. I try to open it, the window opens for like 5 seconds and then just closes, and gives me no error or anything. Also, Aero is disabled.

How to get the best, fastest support

Support loves a good mystery.  We love good stories too.  Mostly though, we like them on our off time . . not when we are at work.  So here's what can be done to reduce both when you are reporting a problem.

The key thing to remember is that we need information on what's going on to be able to help you. To better assist us assist you, always include the following information when you write into support:

The name of the product that is giving you trouble (and the...

New “War On Hackers” or, “How Not to Do It”.

No one (except maybe hackers) loves hackers.

President Obama will propose new laws against hacking that could make either re-tweeting or clicking on a link illegal.

The (proposed) new laws make it a felony to intentionally access unauthorized information even if it’s been posted to a public website. The new laws make it a felony to traffic in information like passwords, where “trafficking” includes posting a link.

Here’s the proposed law: http://www.whitehouse.gov/sit...

Verizon tracks web browsing with “Header Enrichment”

“Verizon users might want to start looking for another provider. In an effort to better serve advertisers, Verizon Wireless has been silently modifying its users' web traffic on its network to inject a cookie-like tracker. This tracker, included in an HTTP header called X-UIDH, is sent to every unencrypted website a Verizon customer visits from a mobile device. It allows third-party advertisers and websites to assemble a deep, permanent profile of visitors' web browsing habits wit...

Creating Shadows for ShadowFX

ShadowFX is the newest desktop customization app from Stardock that gives you the ability to add drop shadows to your windows in Windows 8.  It’s very easy to use, just select which shadow you want from the drop-down list, and you’re good to go.

ShadowFX is also easy to customize, and making your own shadows is very simple.  You can create your own shadows to use for yourself, and you can submit them and share with others on WinCustomize.com.

completely lock a fence down?

I've installed the trial version of Fences on my laptop (Win 7 Home), and before I buy, I want to make sure the program can do one very specific thing, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

I have two icons that I want in the upper left hand corner of my desktop.  I've set up a fence that includes the two icons, that's great.  Now, how do I make it so:

The fence can never be movedThe icon order can never be changedUnless I unlock it, nothing can be ...

Revealing security flaws: To tell or not to tell…or simply wait two days more?

Or, a tale of two choices.

“The bug involves the way user privilege levels are set within the operating system. It appears that anyone with authorized access to a Windows computer is able to create an ordinary user account, and then 'trick' Windows into elevating the account with administrator privileges. The attack can easily be pulled off by remote or locally and can result in significant damage, including but not limited to: malware infection, identify theft, and access ...

What's the last movie you saw?  Doesn't matter if it was at home or at a theater.

Last one I saw was Captain Philips.  I thought it a pretty good movie, especially since it was based on real events.

12 Monkeys TV

Watched the first two episodes and was very impressed.

It felt more like watching a well paced movie than a typical TV series. It took a lot of inspiration from the movie of the same name but it hasn't tried to remake the movie which I feel is a good step.

Very keen to see how this series develops but so far so good.

I have Fences version 1.1 and would like to disable the Quick Hide function.  I have checked the web and cannot find the disable option in Control Panel. Also the "exclude from quick hide" option in the right click menu is missing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Filters

Is there a way to filter out the master skins from a section?

I know this will remove 75% new content of some sections, but they really detract from the majority of the site.  Think of visiting your favorite website(Facebook or a blog or something like that) where 75% of the content is advertising.   Perhaps they could be put as an ad for the bottom banner.  Maybe they deserve their own section.   Not everyone comes to Wincustomize to shop.

Is the $10 a one-time fee for Fences or an annual fee. What is the subscribe option?

What does the subscribe option give you that the $10 fee doesn't?  This is confusing.
