HI All

I first had Windows Blinds when I had Windows 95 (or 98) and wanted to make it look like XP that I couldn't afford at the time.

I have just bought this Software again on my New Dell 3537 Laptop (8gb ram, intel Celeron dual core, 320gb, 15inch). Had windows 8.1 and downgraded it after 8 months to windows 7, just not keen on Large tiles any more, even bought start 8, perhaps windows 10 will be better.

Currently work in IT on a lot of different kit, but just ...

Just saw this on ZDNet. Websense® ThreatSeeker® Intelligence Cloud has detected that the official website of Popular Science has been compromised and is serving malicious code (iFrame).

The code is of the redirect type and will send the user to other websites which will drop malicious files (RIG Exploit Kit) on the victim’s computer. RIG is an executable. If the user doesn’t have any of the checked AVs installed, then the exploit kit proceeds to evaluate the installe...

Hello all,

it would be nice if the blue fire effect of compiz will be integrated in a new version of WindowFX. Here is a one minute video of this effect:

What's the last movie you saw?  Doesn't matter if it was at home or at a theater.

Last one I saw was Captain Philips.  I thought it a pretty good movie, especially since it was based on real events.

Greetings!

I bring you fear, death, pestilence and candy. Virtual candy anyway!

Just some highlights of today’s Halloween at Stardock:

Our lead 3D programmer on Sorcerer King dresses up like Tandis for Halloween! The lead designer of the Sorcerer King website is a fierce warrior! The man in charge, Derek “Kael” Paxton is a great buddy! GalCiv III lead designer, Paul “Mormegil” Boyer is a smooth operator. My son…is…I’m not sure. He made this and it’s s...

Happy Halloween everyone! Just pouring some thoughts out into the ether here.

I <generally> don’t like boycotts

I’m only speaking of myself here. So don’t think that those of you reading this who engage in boycotts are being tut-tuted by me.

Here’s my rationale:

I don’t like coercion. I don’t like the idea of using economic power to stifle someone’s speech. The answer to speech I don’t like is more speech.

When we decide to exert our economic power to punish peopl...

Desktop backgrounds appear pixelated (like an 8 bit game)

I don't know if this issue is WB specific, or some setting in Windows &, but almost all of the pictures I set as a desktop background appear pixelated. I'm using the "stretch" setting in Windows, and the "smart mode" setting in WB.

Many of the pictures I'm trying to use are from the official Windows desktop background site, and some others from elsewhere. I've made sure that they are large enough 1280x1080 pixels, all .jpg, etc.

What's really strange is that this do...

Over two months ago I found after the latest WB release my Opera Internet browser window does not skin properly. The window control buttons, MIN, MAX, X or CLOSE, etc. do not skin.  I duly reported this to SD Support.

I have been informed there is a fix for my 2 month old problem but cannot obtain this fix until the next release of WB whose next release date is nebulous, I must, according to my last e-mail from you all, live with my problem or not skin my ap...

First off, let me give a big thanks to everyone who contributed to the contest.  It was just a casual, fun contest to get some new skins into the site and everyone did a fantastic job.  We got lots more entries than I thought we would, and community support overall was great.  Take a look at all the entries here.

Also, a big thank you to our moderators who judged and as always, keeps things moving on the site.

So lets get to what everyone came here for…..the winners! ...

OK…this is a bit technical, so brace yourselves. Anyway, recently, a SSL 3.0 vulnerability was discovered. This vulnerability allows the injection of malicious code into your computer and web hosting servers and allow remote code execution. So what’s SSL? It means Secure Sockets Layer (and there are 3). It has been superceded by TLS (Transport Layer Security).

The Poodle (Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption) attack allows a web criminal to intercept data that is be...
