Focus control in Windows 8

Hi,

I recently bought a bunch of stardock software and thought I'd throw in windows FX 5.1 as I love the look of the focus feature for background windows. I'd seen the software was now compatible to work on windows 8 so all was good.

I installed it recently and cannot find the option for it anywhere. Can anyone help me?? How do I make the background blur?

Thanks in advance.

Fences 2 Beta - Folder Portal Navigation

I'm loving the new Beta. Some crashing bug with Explorer but the polish is noticeable.

The best new feature is the Folder Portal fence.

What would make this feature even better would be to ADD the ability to NAVIGATE WITHIN the fence to other folders just like one would in explorer. Essentially it would be like having explorer within the fence which would allow you to navigate up root dirs or view inside sub dirs WITHIN the fence.

Anyways, keep up the good work! ...

CBSNews.com has put up some old photographs which I thought might be interesting to some.  Something a little different anyway.  Happy perusing.

Installed Windows 8.......

A few days ago I installed the Windows 8 Release Preview on a brand new SSD. I'm seriously unimpressed...... I don't use ANYTHING that is on that Metro desktop, except Internet Explorer, so it all just seems a waste of time to me.

Everything is difficult to get to, and doesn't make sense. I don't claim to be the most tech savvy person, but i'm not an idiot, even so I had to google how to shut the damn computer down!! So, I can't see me using this at all, and I am serio...

Fences installs and crashes explorer immediately

I'm running Win7-64 on an SSD and as soon as I install Fences (just upgraded to 2.02) I get the 'Explorer has stopped responding' error and I can't do anything with Fences.

The Win install is less than a month old and the only things running in memory are AVG, Malwarebytes and Steam.

Anyone have an idea?

Thanks.

We have a wide variety of wallpapers on WinCustomize, but lately we’ve seen lots of nature themed wallpapers.  These are a popular wallpaper category especially when people look for seasonal wallpapers to match the snow outside, or the sweeping landscapes of warmer months.

These are a few of the latest, and you can find more in our wallpaper gallery.

If you are a Windows 8 user, these are also great to have as your start screen backgrou...

Bailey falls through the ice

This morning I brought my dog Bailey to work.  As I was talking on the phone while she scampered around, she went out on the “frozen” pond. Moments later, I heard a crash and looked up and saw that she had fallen in.  For a moment, she struggled to get out of the water back onto the ice but then slipped and fell further and got stuck under the ice.

Without thinking (and now I understand better how people end up getting themselves killed when this happens on lakes), I jumped ...

Shadows?!

Hi All,

I was a WindowFX user some time ago, and always enjoyed the benefits of a cleaner and more recognizable window stack due to the added shadows. Now with Windows8 there are no shadows anymore provided by the OS, therefor I remembered WindowFX and bought it again in the newest incarnation. But I can't find any option about shadowing anymore? Am I just too blond to find it, or is that feature no more?  If the later, please add it back, and you'll get a lot of W...

[Ideas/concept] Skinning the Startmenu of Windows 8 aka Metro background

Each time i enter my new cool "huge" Startmenu i feel like boy if this would be skinable !
I wonder since Decor8 is out...
1. What is the average size of the background that is giving by MS for it and what size is recommended by the Stardock guys?
2. Does it work with margins or can you simply make a background that is tripple screen size and apply it so it would not strech or cut of and repeat itself somewhere in between? if you have to many programs and apps
3. If not will Decor8 be...

I had to download one of my blinds today and it downloaded as a zip, not wba, file.

Is anything being done to correct this or are we just suppose to suck eggs and move on.

It does seem rhetorical, doesn't it.

Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You'll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile...

I am having a bit of a conundrum. On the one hand, I’ve been promising my family to work fewer hours and managed to do that to a large extent over the last couple.  On the other hand, last year was such a good year and this year looks even better that it presents so many exciting and varied opportunities….if only there were more hours.

The accountants haven’t turned over the final numbers but broadly speaking, it appears our sales overall increased by about 3X over 2011, which, in itse...

Doc is always a good finder of freebies but here's one not a lot of people know about..........PerfectDisk Free..........The latest version 12.5 which has had a few of the 'paid for' versions 'bells and whistles' removed.

As most knowledgeable software gurus know Raxco's PerfectDisk has been one of the leading defrag software makers for years and years. Whilst some with SSD's don't feel they need defrag software others with 'normal' hard drives should d...
