Yes! We have a perigee moon. So, the second will occur on August 10th and the third on September 9th.

On average, though they appear once every 13 moths and 18 days…so this year we’ve had a bumper crop!

The moon will be 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual.

To make it seem truly giant, catch it on the rise on the horizon.

To calculate your moonrise and moonset simply go here: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/moonrise.html\

For me it’ll be 9:07 pm.

ObjectDock and Wildstar (MMO)

I'm running Win 8.1 with a dual screen setup and I have ObjectDock running a simple 6 tab dock on the top of my secondary screen.  Strangely enough, the only issue I seem to have is when I run Wildstar, the new MMO from Carbine, in full screen on my main monitor I occasionally get knocked out of Wildstar and back to the desktop.  Now, the game isn't crashing, it's like I ALT-tabbed out.  If I click on the Wildstar icon in my taskbar I'm brought right back into the ...

Why? Because it’s a great way to make money. FileHippo is testing it now. Several download portals have started to use services like Open Candy in their installers to earn money.

Remember when c|net undled home page switchers, toolbars and browser changers? Same song, different singer. You can read about the downloader here.

“After launching the FileHippo Download Manager from your Downloads folder, just double click on the file that will be clearly named and then fol...

Sans Lincoln

It's days like this that people commonly discuss how wonderful the vision for our country was.  We have clearly diverged from the original vision of a group of states and have ended up with a highly unified nation.  I simply wish to ask one question then...  How would the the world be different without Lincoln?

The Civil War probably wouldn't have happened, leaving two less powerful and less unified countries.  What I find more interesting though is how the World W...

Ok, this is frustrating. I purchased a renewal for Object Desktop and after installing a bunch of programs, I activate using my email/password and it tells me they are activated but the trial/purchase/activation box still stays there. Furthermore, the Object Desktop Manager shows none of my programs in there yet I can see on my account that I have a subscriptions because it tells me that my subscription expires in 350+ days. Can someone look into this please?

Thanks,
Brian

3 Tips for Using Stardock's Fences

Fences has been one of the most popular desktop organization apps since its introduction several years ago. It has nearly 5 million downloads on Download.com alone and has been recommended by many publications including Lifehacker, PCWorld, and more.

If you aren’t familiar with what Fences does, let me give a brief explanation. If you have a desktop full of icons they can quickly add up and become an unorganized mess in a hurry. Fences lets users create shaded areas on the desktop which...

moving icons

From several posts I can see that several people have had difficulty moving icons in fences in Windows 8 or  8.1  I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and sure enough, my fences 2.00.1 does not allow me to move icons.  Do I need to upgrade and if so, how do I do that?  Or will fences automatically update itself in a week or so?  Thanks in advance. A couple of bugs with Fences 2

So, first of all, under Win7 Pro 64-bit at least, using Fences 2 means that when deleting a single file from a list using Windows Explorer, the file list does not update - it is necessary to manually refresh.

Secondly a limitation with Fences 2 - if the fence is smaller than a selection of files within a fence Iin icon mode, at least) only the visible files will respond to drag\drop, delete or copy\paste operations.  You must enlarge the fence in order for file operations to work as you ...

Zuckerberg is changing Facebook’s privacy policy (again) in the very near future.

Used to be, they would watch their more than 1 billion members’ activity closely on the site. Now they intend to watch your activity off their site as well.

Facebook has announced that it will soon begin collecting data on off-site user activity, meaning that the social network will monitor the websites and apps you use when you're away from Facebook. In other words: if you frequently visi...
