Last weekend I took the plunge and put Windows 8 on my main machine and I must admit I am enjoying the experience. Admittedly, the Stardock apps make it even better..........but after week of finding my way around I can honestly say that the experience has been a good one.

Things of note:-

Fast boot time.Like the Start screen set-up.Some great apps although quality in some areas are lacking........hopefully that will improve.IE very very responsive but those blurry fonts really piss me off...

I just installed WindowBlinds and unlike a previous trial version, it does not open and load a theme upon startup. Can anyone tell me how to fix that?

It seems “big” phones and devices are now in as we have a bunch of devices arriving that some are calling “phablets”.  The latest is the Lumia 1520 which is a 6-inch Windows Phone device with a 1080p display and 20mp camera.

I have a Lumia 920 and it was quite the size upgrade from the iPhone.  I haven’t held a device of this size yet, but I’m curious if it’s too big or if it hits the right size spot.  Engadget has a great review up with more detail on the 1520.

Greetings and Happy New Years!

Over the years the time and effort to create quality skins has increased and so effective January 1, 2014, the royalty split between the skinner and WinCustomize is now 70% for the skinner and 30% for WinCustomize (it was previously a 50/50 split).  

We hope that this will the first of many positive improvements that WinCustomize will be seeing this year.

I'm running Windows 8.1 x64, but like many I miss the features from Windows 7.  In particular, I ran Windows 7 in "Classic Windows" style which made it look like Windows 2000, and that's the style I always want to use.  Someone directed me to WindowBlinds as a potential solution for Windows 8.1.

My question is, is this someone Window Blinds can do for me out of the box?  I'm not really interested in designing any new styles; I just want back what was taken out of Wi...

Seems that objectdock has been out for a very long time, yet I can not seem to find any kind of digital clock docklet that works.

I have tried .Net dock with the digital clock addon for it, but doesn't work, tried some other digital clock, but it shuts down objectdock due to an error i am guessing and systats locks up objectdock as well.

Is there any actual digital clock docklets that work for objectdock?

I have disappointment.

Each time as I visit the wincustomize.com I hope to find a subject with animation of a desktop and each time I have disappointment. Why there are no offers which would develop desktop animation?
We watch movies about our future,we are  surprised perfect animation and graphics of future computers created by Holywood but we don't do anything  to approach this future.
Why we can not propose something?

I trust that there are talented animators not only in Holywood and don't un...

i am new here i have already downloaded sound pack but i really dont know how to install in my windows 7 and windows 8

Snagit is one of my favorite apps, and I use it on both the PC and Mac.  The Windows version got a small update today which brings a couple of handy features.  One of those is a new step tool which applies a stamp with the next number ready as you click.  I’m really like this feature as I can put this to good use in some of the upcoming tutorial and guides I have planned.

Another new feature is the improved blur tool and an updated editor.  If you already own the latest ...

When I right click on the desktop my context menu is sometimes skinned. Sometimes not. Is there a setting I'm not aware of?

If there is another thread about this? Please help.

Neil, I have a question about SKS and Windows 8.

I have some icons at the top left of my window that replace the "organize" menu from Win7. (Undo. redo, delete, etc.)

One skin I have recently downloaded these icons are not clickable. Lightstar told me to alter the titlebar height to 30. This fixes it, now the icons are clickable, but the icons are now misaligned vertically.

The skin author tells me that in order to accommodate that, he'd have to redesign the caption.  Is t...
