As a tablet OS, Windows 8 is pretty decent.  I don’t have a problem with the Start screen in theory.  But I spend 8+ hours a day in front of a PC doing real work and that means using a desktop OS.

Windows 8 includes the desktop but it relegates that to being a program you run from the Start screen.  What we really want is to get the good stuff in Windows 8 (faster performance, new Modern app support, etc.) without the negatives.  That’s where Object Desktop comes in!

Hello, this is my first post here. I just got Windowblinds. The transparency of Windows (not the taskbar, not the start menu) does not change when I adjust and apply the transparency setting. It stays completely opaque. I am using the Aero Metals theme, but have noticed the same problem with other skins.

Any ideas?

The aero option is still available in this just-released build. But the 'intel' is it won't be in any further beta (if there is one) and not in the

RTM and retail versions. That means, as far as I'm concerned, WinBlinds is back in the loop (I lived without it on WN7.) I like aero - turn it

off and you'll see what I mean. Bland. There will be many, especially those using Metro on phones and pads, who won't want it.  I can see

the reason for that. A flat look ...

For our community of designers out there.

Adobe Kuler got an update today along with a new iOS app.  Kuler lets you take images and extract the colors to create custom color palettes that can be shared, and used with other Adobe apps such as Photoshop.  It’s actually a cool service especially for those who want some color inspiration.

If you don’t have an iPhone, they also have a web version.

Been slacking a bit as of late on the ol' WB production...

I thought I might explain why... I have been working for a few Music Software companies designing new interfaces for their upcoming software plugins and libraries.

I'll post some here as I have time...

So my question is that since Microsoft has chosen to make changes to it's Windows OS will it have the effect of Desktop PC users giving Linux (Ubuntu) a look at and try on their desktops? 

Is there enough software available that the user could transition to Linux?

Okay, this is not meant to bash Windows 8 but to ask a valid question when it comes down to the Desktop PC.  Lets keep it friendly.

By the threads from the eager beavers that can't wait to download beta versions one might surmise that there will be compatibility issues between the different versions of SKS and WB. If history repeats itself, and it usually does, I'm sure at some point I'll have to upgrade to WB8 and SKS8 in order for my uploads to work correctly even though I will not be upgrading to Win8 (with <4% of market share). No big deal, I've had to do it before and actually expect it to happen agai...

I'm sort of confused as to why we have a clock icon, when it displays the date ... exactly as the calendar icon does.
Is it possible for it to become a live version and update every minute with the time, not the date?

 








Another annoyance I'm having is that a few of the programs I try to pin to the dock, do not work as intended (as they work from the regular Windows taskbar). The one that I use the most with the taskbar is called "puush" which is a screenshot cap...

I'm having a problem with one of my windows always going "dark" with the WindowFX setting to darken them when inactive.
The main problem is when I have dual monitors active, I put a game on the second one to idle on, and the main window is usually Google Chrome, etc. When I'm active on Google Chrome, the game window darkens ... I've toggled the right click title bar >  Do not darken when children get focus but oblivious to the fact that's checked, it remains darkene...

I have installed WidnowsFX 5.1 on a laptop that is running Windows 8 x64.  I have attempted to set the animations and it appears to save in WindowFX but the animations do not occur - for example opening and closing of a window.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.
